- UV light. The cells in the eyes are incredibly sensitive to UV radiation; the light that comes from the sun. Over-exposure to this light can cause the cells to deteriorate and affect your eyesight.
- Obesity and blood-pressure. Obesity has been linked to a higher risk of macular degeneration, as has high blood pressure. Smoking is also a big factor. If you smoke, you’re up to four times as likely to experience problems with eyesight.
